The Korean Friendship Association (KFA) expresses its most sincere condolences to the people of the DPR of Korea regarding the unfortunate train accident in Ryongchon.



Although the victims and material losses are high, we're sure that the Korean citizens firmly united around the Leader will soon recover from the tragedy at the speed of Chollima.



There's no natural or human disaster that will stop the firm advance of the Juche construction and powerful economy in the new era. Under the slogan of the Party 'live not merely for today but for tomorrow', new houses will be built for the damaged families and strong measures will be taken to avoid this problem in the future.



We call to the USA to immediately stop strangling the economy of the DPRK with its COCOM imperialist law and lift the blockade to allow the fast recovery from such disasters. It's a shame and cheap propaganda to offer an aid of 100.000 US$ when they're the only guilty of blocking millions of income to the country on a daily basis and are preparing a nuclear invasion plan.



The DPRK can count with the solidarity and hands of the KFA for the reconstruction stone-by-stone of the damaged area.

LATEST NEWS ON ACCIDENT IN RYONGCHON



Ryongchon, April 27 (KCNA) -- Results of further investigation into the explosion of wagons that occurred at around 12:15 on April 22 say that the damage is unexpectedly gaining in scope. Horrible is human and material loss within the radius of 4 km including Pukjung Workers' District as well as Ryongchon Township.



More than 30 public, industrial and commercial buildings including Ryongchon Primary School with a total floor space of 3,250 square metres, the House of Culture with a total floor space of 2,800 square metres and houses for at least 8,100 families around the railway station were destroyed by an explosion equivalent to the blast of about 100 bombs each weighing one ton in the same place at a moment. All properties were blown away and ceilings and buildings collapsed, reducing everything to ruins in the surrounding area one km from the scene of the explosion.



Strong explosion left many inhabitants blind and deaf. The number of those missing is still under investigation. A preliminary estimate of the damage stands at about 48 billion Wons or 300 million Euros.



The DPRK government is doing its best to recover from damage and put the living of the inhabitants in the afflicted area to normal as early as possible. More than 20,000 persons are at rescue work everyday. Emergency relief goods from China, Russia and various other countries and international organizations continue to reach here.
